Botox & Tox
Botox and tox (e.g. Daaxify, Dysport, Jeuveau) are cosmetic injectable products intended to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. They work well on forehead lines, frown lines between the brows, and crow’s feet. In addition, these treatments can be used to slim the nose and lower face, soften necklace lines, improve skin quality, and reduce sweat gland production. Treatments typically take 15-20 minutes, and you can return to most activities immediately following.
Dosing:
Typical Botox dosing (unit ranges) for common treatment areas:

Botox and Jeaueau dosing are the same.
Daxxify dosing is the same or double the dose of Botox units (depending on desired duration/treatment area).
Dysport is 2.5 times the dose of Botox (e.g. 10 Botox units = 25 Dysport units).
Botox/Tox Pre-Treatment Instructions:
Prior to your Botox/tox treatment, it is recommended to STOP the following prior to your appointment to reduce bruising potential:
Avoid at least one week prior to your appointment to minimize bruising potential:
NSAIDs (e.g. Advil, Aleve, Motrin, Meloxicam) and Aspirin
Vitamin E, Aloe, Cranberries, Feverfew, Gingko biloba, Meadowsweet, Chamomile, Fenugreek, Red clover, Dong quai, and Ginseng
** Please alert Noelle if your medical provider has instructed you to take the medications/supplements listed above and advises against stopping.
** Please alert Noelle if you are taking anticoagulant medication (e.g. Coumadin, Xarelto, Eliquis, etc.)—Please do not stop these medications if they have been prescribed for you by a medical provider.
Three days prior to your appointment, please avoid the following to limit irritation/bruising--
Alcohol
Topical products such as Retin-A, Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, and Alpha Hydroxy Acid
Hair removal (e.g. wax, tweezing, removal cream) and bleach to treated areas
Excessive sun exposure
**Arnica may be started to reduce bruising potential. This dissolving, under-the-tongue tablet can be purchased over-the-counter.
Before your appointment, you are encouraged to do the following:
Eat a small meal or snack before your appointment
Inform Noelle of pregnancy/chance of pregnancy, if you are breastfeeding, or have a history of or suspected neuromuscular disorder (these are contraindicated in treatment).
Complete first appointment intake form in patient portal or report changes in medical history, including allergies and dietary restrictions
Reschedule if you have a rash, cold sore, or blemish on the treatment area or if you are feeling unwell
Schedule your appointment at least two weeks before an event to allow the product to set and potential bruising/swelling to resolve
** It is recommended to schedule your Botox/tox treatment 6 weeks before a special event to allow product to settle and adjust if needed.
Botox/Tox Post-Treatment Expectations:
Bruising varies between patients. Usually, minimum bruising occurs and resolves within 2-3 days. On occasion, bruising may be more significant and last up to 2 weeks. Arnica cream/tablets may be used to help bruising. If you develop a headache, Tylenol (unless contraindicated), is preferred. NSAIDs (e.g. Advil, Aleve) may be taken (unless contraindicated) but can increase bruising potential.
Botox/Tox Post-Treatment Instructions:
Do NOT manipulate the treated area for 4 hours following treatment (e.g. wear a hat, goggles, etc.).
Do NOT receive facial/laser treatments or microdermabrasion after injections for at least 10-14 days.
Do NOT lie down/bend over for 4 hours after your treatment. This will prevent the neuromodulator from tracking into the orbit of your eye and causing drooping eyelid.
It can take approximately 4 to 7 days for results to start showing. It takes 3 weeks to see the full results.
Do NOT perform activities involving straining, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise for 24 hours after treatment. This will keep the placement of product in the injected area and not elsewhere.
Wait at least 24 hours before doing any activities that involve heat (e.g. tanning, saunas, hot tubs, hot showers, and hot baths).
Please follow up with Noelle 3 weeks after injections to evaluate your treatment, sooner if you have any questions or concerns.

Fillers
Dermal fillers used by Noelle are made from hyaluronic acid (HA) and help to restore lost volume/structure, contour, hydrate , and smooth skin. Numbing and vibrata are used to reduce discomfort during cosmetic treatment(s). Treatment time varies depending on treatment site(s), ranging from 30-90 minutes. Results are immediate but can take a few weeks for bruising, swelling, and tenderness to resolve. Please do not schedule dermal filler less than 3 weeks before an event.

Avoid NSAIDs (e.g. Advil, Aleve), aspirin, vitamin e, omegas, and ginkgo biloba at least 1 week prior to treatments if possible.

To decrease the chances of lightheadedness during your treatment, ensure you have had food and drink before your procedure.
Please warn the provider if you have a history of fainting.

Filler Treatment Expectations:
Bruising, swelling, and mild tenderness are expected, especially within the first 3 days following injections, and can last up to 14 days.
It is normal to feel “firmness” in the injection area(s) for the first few days after treatment. Over time, the area will soften, leaving you with a natural looking result.
Filler Post-Treatment Instructions:
Avoid significant movement or massage of the treated area unless instructed by the provider (e.g. avoid straw after lip treatment, etc.).
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
Avoid extensive sun or heat for 72 hours.
Avoid alcohol 2-3 days following treatment to decrease bruising and swelling potential.
If you experience swelling, you may apply a cool compress for 15 minutes each hour. Avoid placing ice directly on injection sites.
Use Tylenol, unless contraindicated, for discomfort. Advil and Aleve may be used but can increase bruising potential.
Arnica may be used after treatment reduce bruising potential. This dissolving, under-the-tongue tablet can be purchased over-the-counter.
Try to sleep face up and slightly elevated if you experience swelling.
Avoid immunizations and dental cleanings/procedures 2 weeks after treatment.
Please follow up with Noelle 2-3 weeks after injections to evaluate your treatment,
sooner if you have any questions or concerns.

Sculptra
Sculptra, poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) is a cosmetic injectable that gradually stimulates your body’s own collagen and elastin to restore volume loss, smooth wrinkles, and improve skin complexion. The result is natural and lasts up to 2 years. Multiple treatments may be needed to achieve desired results. Please see pre- and post-treatment recommendations for more details.

Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores or shingles to receive advice on antiviral treatment prior to and after treatment.
**Arnica may be started 3 days prior to reduce bruising potential. This dissolving, under-the-tongue tablet can be purchased over-the-counter.
Please arrive with a clean face if possible. If not, you will be able to wash your face at the office. You may experience mild tenderness or stinging during and following injection. Redness, swelling, and bruising are expected to treatment areas. Please inform your provider if you have any questions about this prior to the day of treatment.
Sculptra Post-Treatment Instructions:
** Be sure to massage the treatment areas 5 times a day, for 5 minutes each time, for 5 days immediately following treatment. Massage helps to optimize results and reduce nodule potential. Arnica cream/gel or gentle moisturizer may be used during massage.
The volume you initially see will disappear within 3 days and you will begin to build new collagen over the next 4-6 weeks.
After treatment, there will be moderate swelling and redness with the possibility of bruising. These symptoms will resolve in about 7 days. You may apply or take over-the- counter Arnica tablets to help decrease bruising and swelling.
Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is preferred over NSAIDs (e.g. Advil, Aleve) if you experience mild tenderness/discomfort.
Avoid extended UV exposure until any redness/swelling has subsided. Apply SPF.
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours to reduce bruising.
Avoid facials, massage, laser, IPL, or skin tightening treatments of the area for at least 2-3 weeks.
You may continue your topical products (e.g. tretinoin/retin-a, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, hydroquinoneas) 2-3 days after injection.
Follow up is typically scheduled 5-6 weeks after Sculptra treatment.

Renuva
Renuva is an injectable product intended to gradually rebuild your own fat specifically where it is injected. Renuva naturally restores volume loss and structural irregularities to the face and body. It is an off-the-shelf alternative to fat grafting and lasts 5-10 years on average. Multiple treatments may be needed to achieve desired results. Please see pre- and post-treatment recommendations for more details.

Renuva Pre-Treatment Instructions:
Avoid the use of Aspirin, NSAIDS, Ginko Biloba, Garlic Supplements, Green Tea, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamins A and E, and essential fatty acids for up to 1 week pre and post injection as they will increase your risk of bruising.
Notify your provider if you are on a blood thinning medication (e.g. Eliquis, Xarelto, Coumadin).
Avoid alcohol and excessive salt 3 days before and after your treatment to limit bruising and bruising potential – You may take Arnica tablets 2-3 days prior to your injection to improve recovery time.
Avoid products that are potentially irritating 2 -3 days before and after treatment (e.g. tretinoin/retin-a, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, hydroquinone).
Avoid immunizations, dental cleaning/procedures 2 weeks before and 2 weeks following your Renuva treatment.
Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores to receive advice on antiviral therapy prior to treatment.
Inform your provider of changes to your medical history including recent/current infection or illness.
Notify your provider if you are pregnant, if there is a chance of pregnancy, or if you are breastfeeding.
If possible, please arrive to the office with a clean face/treatment site. Please do not apply any lotions or oils prior to treatment. To decrease the chances of lightheadedness during your treatment, ensure you have had food and drink before your procedure. Please warn the provider if you have a history of fainting.
Renuva Treatment Expectations:
Post-treatment swelling, redness, discomfort, and bruising is expected. Initial swelling may persist 2-4 weeks.
Small nodules/bumps may be felt when massaging skin. These bumps may last 4-6 weeks.
Please contact Nurse Noelle PLLC directly with excessive redness, bruising, swelling, pain, fever, rash, blanched or mottled skin.
If any severe reactions should occur after treatment with Renuva®, you should immediately contact your provider.
The Renuva product will absorb over the next few days. Your injection sites will begin to build fat 4-12 weeks after injections.
Renuva Post-Treatment Instructions:
To minimize the risk of possible side effects and complications, please follow these steps:
You may apply a cool (not cold) compress to the injection site for 15 minute intervals up to 48 hours.
Avoid firm pressure to the treated area for 24 hours post-treatment.
The use of antiinflammatory drugs and/or anticlotting agents may result in increased bleeding or bruising at the injection site(s). Tylenol is preferred if tolerated for discomfort.
**BE SURE TO MASSAGE THE TREATED AREA 2 TIMES DAILY FOR 2 MINUTES
OVER THE NEXT 2 WEEKS TO MAXIMIZE RESULTS (2x2x2).
** Arnica cream/gel or gentle moisturizer may be used during massage.
Please schedule your 3 month follow up to reevaluate results.

Kybella
Kybella is an injectable that helps the body destroy fat within 4-6 weeks to isolated areas such as under the chin.

Kybella Pre-Treatment Instructions:
Avoid the following products 3 days prior to and 3 days following your treatment (or until pinkness has subsided): RetinA, retinoids, or similar vitamin A compounds, harsh scrubs or exfoliating products, or bleaching creams (unless instructed otherwise by your provider).
Gentlemen: Shave the treatment area one day before your scheduled treatment (unless instructed otherwise by your
provider).
Do not apply any creams, lotions, perfume or makeup etc. to the treatment areas prior a to be treated, prior to
treatment.
To decrease the chances of lightheadedness during your treatment, ensure you have had a recent meal, including
food and drink, before your procedure. Please warn the provider if you have a history of fainting.
Schedule your Kybella® appointment at least 4 weeks prior to a special event which you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation (due to bruising and prolonged swelling).
Reschedule your appointment at least 48 hours in advance if you have a severe rash, cold sore, or blemish in the
treatment area.
Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications 10-14 days prior and 3-4 days post treatment. Medications such
as: Aspirin, Vitamin E, Gingko Biloba, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil Supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after
injections.
Avoid alcoholic beverages 1 week prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising).
Consider taking Arnica tablets beginning 1 week prior to injections to prevent bruising.
**Please alert your provider if you are pregnant, if there is a chance of pregnancy, if you are breastfeeding, or if you have open sores in the treatment area.
Kybella Post-Treatment Instructions:
• Avoid extreme temperatures of heat for 24 hours post treatment (i.e. Jacuzzi, hot showers etc.).
• Do NOT consume alcohol or sodium for 3 days post treatment to avoid excess swelling.
• Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours post treatment.
• Sleep on your back with your head elevated to decrease swelling.
Kybella Treatment Expectations:
You will experience swelling and bruising for 3-5 days post treatment, which will begin decreasing over a period of a
few weeks. Swelling can last 4-6 weeks.
Many patients need 2-3 treatments for desired results, please schedule a follow-up appointment 4-6 weeks after
your first treatment.
Ice packs may be used to the treated area during the first 12 hours. Ice for 15 minutes every hour. However, icing can
be discontinued if uncomfortable.
Do NOT massage the injection site. Swelling, tenderness, bruising, numbness, and areas of firm nodules may occur and will resolve over time without intervention. Results are not immediate. Results may be seen as early as 4-6 weeks post-treatment, but full results will not be noticed until 12 weeks post-treatment. Numbness can last up to 12 weeks.
Do not wrap the treated area, and do not take anything to prohibit swelling the day of the treatment or for the days
following treatment.
You may feel a sense of heaviness following the treatment, especially when laying on your back. This sensation may make you feel short of breath. However, Kybella® does not compromise your airway. Notify our office if any significant swelling, bleeding, pain, dusky discoloration, difficulty swallowing or smiling, or if fever occurs.
